Police were dispatched to the intersection of Grove Street and Pine Street at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23 after hearing a report of a vehicle stopped in an intersection.
Police arrived to discover that the vehicle’s operator, identified as 50-year-old Stefanie Warner-Grise, was sitting in the driver’s seat with her eyes closed. Police made contact with Warner-Grise and detected a strong odor of vanilla. Warner-Grise was allegedly slurring words and unable to provide coherent answers to basic questions.
Police then found a large number of empty bottles of pure vanilla extract inside the vehicle. Warner-Grise was asked to participate in a series of Field Sobriety Tests, which she did not pass.
Warner-Grise was arrested and charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs. She refused to submit to a BAC test and was held on $250 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Jan. 24.
